提出“卓越工程师”应具备扎实的专业知识,全面的实践能力,专业发展的前瞻意识,自主学习的素质以及能够在工程实践中发现问题、分析问题和解决问题的能力,并结合桂林理工大学资源勘查工程专业人才培养特色,确定培养“卓越工程师”应坚持明确人才培养的特色目标；建立完备地教学管理及质量监督保障体系；打造教研水平突出的师资队伍；优化教学环境,深化理论、实践教学改革；加强实习实践基地建设；组织多形式的课外科技活动等原则,同时就科技进步及行业发展形势下培养“卓越工程师”进行探索.

The present article points out that ＂outstanding engineers＂ should have a solid knowledge of their specialties, all-round practical ability, foresight into professional development, habit of inde- pendent study as well as the ability to find, analyze and Solve problems in engineering practice. Con- sidering the features of the cultivation of talents in mineral resources exploration in Guilin University of Technology, it suggests that the distinctive goal of ＂outstanding engineer＂ cultivation should be i- dentified, a comprehensive system of teaching management and quality control established, a team of teachers with great teaching and research ability built, the teaching environment optimized, the reform of theoretical and practice teaching deepened, construction of practice sites strengthened, and that va- rious extracurricular scientific activities should be organized. Besides, it explores the production of ＂outstanding engineers＂ in the situation of scientific and industrial development.
