2011年江苏省提出今后一个时期的奋斗目标是：到2015年，全面建成惠及全省人民的更高水平小康社会，到2020年全省基本实现现代化。现代化指标和小康指标相比较，更加突出了创新驱动和人才支撑的要求。文章采用计量经济学的研究方法，选取1978～2011年的数据作为样本构建VEC模型，分析了江苏省总体经济增长与就业结构演变的特征。实证分析结果显示，江苏经济增长与就业结构在长期存在一定的不协调性，短期却表现出明显的互动性。根据实证结论，从制度设计、产业结构优化和统筹城乡就业等方面提出促进江苏省经济增长和就业结构协调发展的对策建议。

The Jiangsu Provincial Government has set its objective of development for the next period： to establish a moderately prosperous society in all respects which will have been furtherly improved and benefits all citizens of the province in 2015; to basically realize modernization in the province in 2020. Compared to the well-off index, modernization highlights more innovation driving and talent support .Based on the econometric methods as well as the sample of 1978-2011, the article constructs the VEC model and analyzes the characteristics of the overall economic growth and employment structure evolution. From the empirical analysis result, it shows that there is inconsistency between the two in the long term but obvious interactivity in the short term. According to the empirical conclusions, the article puts forward some suggestions to promote the coordination of economic growth and employment structure from system design, industrial structure optimization and the coordination of urban and rural employment.
