“真义体育观”和“Sport（s）大体育观”是体育学界讨论最为热烈、迄今为止也尚未有定论的关于体育本义的观点.二者的相争,在结构主义方法论看来,其一,前者如“语言”,是静态的,后者更贴近“言语”,是动态的;其二,作为能指的汉语词汇“体育”与英语中的Physical Education以及Sport（s）,其所指与其词源意义已经发生了很大的变化;其三,现时的用法要优于历时的原义.研究认为,在实践上,用汉语的“体育”作为一级概念,对应于国际上越来越流行的Sports概念,而将“体质教育”与“休闲体育”、“竞技体育”等并列为二级概念,可以解决二者之争.

Essence of Sports Outlook and Sports in Society Outlook are the most highly disputed and undefined theo- ries regarding the fundamental meanings of sports in the Chinese sports field. However, the fallacy of the past re- searches is apparent due to a wrong adoption of theoretical framework. From the point of view of structuralism, the former is static which is similar to langue while the latter is dynamic which is close to parole. The meanings and ety- mology of the word sports in Chinese, physical education and sports in English as signifiers have changed. More- over, the contemporary usage of a term is better than that of diachronically original meaning. Therefore, this paper argues that ＂体育＂ in Chinese can be used in correspondence to ＂Sports＂. Under the category of ＂体育＂ or sports, a further classification can include ＂体育教育＂（physical education）, ＂休闲体育＂（recreational sports）, ＂竞技体育＂（athletic sports）. In this way, distinctions can be made.
