汉代确有“街弹”，并非传抄之“讹”误。“街弹”是汉代官府设在街里的治安组织，其执事人员有街正、街卒，主要职守是“引导”交通、“训化”街中违法之民。类似后世的警察。“街弹”与“正弹”或“正卫弹”的性质、所涉内容、组织结构及其功能等有别，二者不可混同。

There was indeed an office named Jietan （街弹） which is an organization for public security in Han Dynasty. Its staff included Jiezheng （街正, the head） and Jiezu （街卒, the soldiers） whose duties were mainly to guide the traffic, and to teach the persons who broke the law in the street, similar to the policemen nowadays. There are some differences between Jietan, Zhengtan （ 正弹） or Zhengweitan （正卫弹） concerning the character, content of duty, structure and function.
