自治,是一种依靠社会成员自主管理自身事务,并对该行为负责的社会管理形态.学生自治在“自治”原理基础上指向学生对自身与其所属之群体肩负责任的自我管理和自我教育行为.行使学生自治是学校民主管理与学生主体性发挥的有力体现.欧洲中世纪部分大学学生对内行使自治权,对外捍卫自身权益.近代以来,学生自治问题在大学自治和学术自由的热议中再度现身,后逐渐演变为高等教育体系全球化发展过程中大学生地位与权利保障等问题.目前,我国关于学生自治的研究以及学生权利的法制化建设方面还比较薄弱.本文从历史、观念、体制、法律以及教育管理等方面分析西方大学生自治,旨在为推进我国教育民主建设与完善高校学生工作提供参考.

Autonomy is a pattern of social management in which community members manage their own affairs and take the responsibility for their own behaviors. College-students＇autonomy means college-students＇ self-governance and self-education about their individual behaviors and group actions in schools. College-students＇ autonomy can be traced back to the medieval period. The aim of college-students＇ autonomy is to to manage their own affairs by themselves and to defend their rights through founding all kinds of formal or informal student organizations in schools. In modern times, college- students＇ autonomy is centering around college-students＇ status and rights. The history of western college-students＇autonomy is involved with educational thoughts, educational institution, educational practice and educational management, etc. In China, both the research of college-students＇autonomy and the legal construction of colleg-students＇ rights are relatively weak. Combing and analyzing the history of western college- students＇autonomy is helpful in promoting the construction of education democracy and improving the management of college-students in universities in China.
