行政法，是规定国家行政机关的组织、职权范围、管理制度、工作程序，调整行政主体与社会关系的各种法律的总称。宋代行政法规建设对唐代行政法规有诸多继承与模仿，其表现可从法律渊源、官职设置、官员管理制度等方面得到体现。同时，宋朝统治者也在立法实践中鼎故革新，不断探索，形成了许多“自成一王之法”的新法规、新体例，并同样体现在官职设置、选任、考核等诸多层面。故而，宋代行政法制体系是唐制基础上的传承和创新。这种理性务实的态度，对于巩固宋朝皇权统治、保持行政体制运行发挥了重要作用，有些做法即使对于今天立法建设仍有一定的借鉴意义。
