国际著名分析马克思主义开创者、英国牛津大学政治学教授柯亨在其《卡尔马克思的历史理论—一种辩护》的第二版中增加了“历史唯物主义再思考”一章,意外地对他曾经辩护过的马克思历史理论表示怀疑,自我推翻了曾给他带来学术盛誉的“功能解释”方法.更难以理解的是,在声明不认为历史唯物主义是错误的同时,却严厉地对马克思“消灭社会分工”、“文化世界主义”等历史唯物主义观点进行全面批判,宣扬宗教精神的不朽.

Gerald Allan Cohen, founder of Analytical Marxism and professor of Political Science at Oxford University, added a chapter, “Reconsidering Historical Materialism” to the Second edition of his book “Karl Marx＇s Theory of History： A Defense” . To readers＇ surprise, in this chapter, hc expressed his doubt about Marx＇s theory of history, which he once defended, and negated his approach of “functional explanation” which had brought him great reputation in the academic circle. What is more confusing is that he criticized Marx＇s views of Historical Materialism, such as “eliminating social division of labor” and “cultural cosmopolitanism”, etc., and advocated the eternity of religious spirit.
