In recent years, the research on linguistic economics is in the ascendant. The reason and driving force behind its development are that it has identified the unique qualities and functions of language. In linguistic economics, language has such qualities as value and utility, as well as cost and benefit. Language is not only a kind of human capital, but also public product and institution. In addition, it has the economic attribute of productivity. These newly-discovered attri-butes of language offer new subjects as well as methods to language study.
