清代晋北地区土地垦殖过程总体分为明末清初的土地抛荒期，清初至乾隆时期的土地复垦期以及乾隆以后土地垦殖的下降期。区域内耕地集中于忻定盆地和大同盆地，晋西北黄土丘陵区、晋北高原区等地耕地比例较低。讨论生态环境脆弱区土地垦殖问题，自然环境的制约性尤为值得关注。

청대진북지구토지은식과정총체분위명말청초적토지포황기，청초지건륭시기적토지복은기이급건륭이후토지은식적하강기。구역내경지집중우흔정분지화대동분지，진서북황토구릉구、진북고원구등지경지비례교저。토론생태배경취약구토지은식문제，자연배경적제약성우위치득관주。
The process of reclaiming and cultivating wasteland in northern Shanxi in the Qing Dynasty can be divided into three periods, that is, the period of reclaiming and cultivating wasteland in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, the period of re-cuhivating in time of Emperor Qianlon＇ s reign and the period of cultivation de- cline after Qianlon＇ s reign. The euhivated land in the area gathered in the basins of Xinding and Datong while that in the loess upland in northwestern Shanxi and in the highland in northern Shanxi took a relatively low proportion. Special attention should be paid to the limitation of natural environment when we discuss an issue about cultivation in areas with weal ecological environment.
