共同语和方言是主体和变体的关系,它们相对独立又相互影响.语言规范的对象是共同语,规范方式分为建立和维护两个方面.共同语依据一定的规范标准建立起来之后,与方言之间会形成一个接口,共同语的语言成分会通过接口进入方言,反之亦然.因此,为维护共同语的纯洁性,还需要在共同语之外的接口设定标准,驻扎监管机构和队伍,以阻止消极的方言成分进入共同语,也阻止方言进入本该使用共同语的正式场合.地域方言和包括网络语言在内的社会方言本身不需要规范,也规范不了.只要在接口处严格把关,方言和共同语就可以和谐共处.

The standard language and its dialects are relatively independent, but affect each other.
