晚唐碑志文的发展整体上趋于衰落,这其中,政治环境的巨变、文体革新的思潮、作家个人的遭遇及情怀都起了重要作用,而作家的创作理念也随之发生转变,其从家国之思转向人生如梦的命运感慨,伤悼岁月变迁,多咏史怀古、以古喻今的创作旨趣,由此也带来晚唐碑志文文体形态的转变,幽思沉郁,苍凉复杂、结构上崇尚小品,骈散两体并行.
