明代小说在发展过程中，出现了两个新的特点，一是白话小说创作的兴盛，二是白话小说的载道功能得到了广泛的肯定，其影响超越了文言小说。在晚明时事政治题材的白话小说中，作者在作品的叙事中央杂了大量的时政议论，小说叙事的政论性，成为晚明时政题材白话小说创作中的一个显著特色。中国古代小说与史传有密切的关系，因而不仅继承了史传的纪实特点，同时也继承了史传的评述特点，另外，晚明白话小说的政论性与晚明盛行的清议风气也有直接的关系。因此，晚明白话小说叙事政论风格的形成既有中国小说发展的历史原因，也有时代背景的现实原因。
명대소설재발전과정중，출현료량개신적특점，일시백화소설창작적흥성，이시백화소설적재도공능득도료엄범적긍정，기영향초월료문언소설。재만명시사정치제재적백화소설중，작자재작품적서사중앙잡료대량적시정의론，소설서사적정론성，성위만명시정제재백화소설창작중적일개현저특색。중국고대소설여사전유밀절적관계，인이불부계승료사전적기실특점，동시야계승료사전적평술특점，령외，만명백화소설적정론성여만명성행적청의풍기야유직접적관계。인차，만명백화소설서사정론풍격적형성기유중국소설발전적역사원인，야유시대배경적현실원인。
Two characteristics appeared during the development process of the novels in Ming Dynasty. One was the prosperity of the vernacular fictions＇creation. The other was that their function of doctrine carrying re- ceived considerable attention and affirmation. The influence of vernacular fictions had surpassed the classical Chinese novels. In the vernacular fictions about current political theme in late Ming Dynasty, lots of comments about the current politics were in the authors＇narratives, which became an outstanding characteristic in the creation. Ancient Chinese novels are closely related to historical biographies so they inherited not only the doc- umentary elements but also the characteristics of comments. In addition, the political comments of vernacular fictions in late Ming Dynasty were directly related to political criticism by scholars which prevailed at that time. Therefore, in late Ming Dynasty, the reasons why the vernacular fictions＇narrative and political com- ment style formed lie in two aspects： the development process of Chinese novels and the time background, which has the internal and external reasons.
