现代大学热衷科研而忽视教学,于是高等教育界发出“回归大学之道”的时代呼唤。自20世纪80年代以来,多伦多大学作为世界一流大学,其教学发展组织先后经过孕育萌生、战略规划、融合发展和体系构建四个阶段,最终形成了“学校-院(系)-项目”三级联动的教学发展体系,成为现代大学坚守教学本位、重振教学风气的典范。同时,多伦多大学的教学发展组织在研究引领、机制创新、服务品质、技术融合与系统变革等方面积累了丰富的经验,对我国高校正在兴起的教学发展实践具有一定的借鉴意义。

It is prevalent that modern universities put more emphasis on research rather than teaching so that voices on teaching improvement are strengthened in higher education. University of Toronto (U of T), as one of the top universities in the world, has caught great attention because of its unique teaching development organization {TDO). The TDO at U of T has gone through four phases: incubation, plan, change, and system construction since 1980s. An integrated TDO with teaching development at different levels (e. g. university, school/department, and program) has been formed ultimately, which has become an outstanding model of TDO at modern universities. Meanwhile, the TDO at U of T has done an excellent job in research-led practice, mechanism innovation, service quality, technology integration, and systematic change, and provides a good reference for the emerging teaching development practice in Chinese universities and colleges.
