生态批评和女性主义发展到今日，它们所关怀的对象都已不仅仅是自然或女性，而是包括了所有二元论中的弱势一方：自然、女性、东方、有色人种、被剥削阶级等等。这也不但成为二者合而为生态女性主义的基础，也预示了其阐释力的高度与广度。生态问题与女性问题的同构性，决定了生态批评与女性主义发展的同一指向。而且在这样的理论框架中，“生态”与“女性”的概念也渐有重合的趋势，因而生态女性主义将不再是生态批评或女性主义的一个分支，而是取而代之。生态女性主义的批评实践注重体系建构的包容性，以便争取最广泛的支撑及适用性，其中对“双性同体”的再阐释便是很好的范例。而道家的自然观更越来越为中外学者所接受，“知雄守雌”将成为生态女性主义建构人类阴性文明的关键词。

Ecocriticism and feminism, after decades of development, have both evolved to extend their concerns to not only nature and women, but to all the disempowered in those dualities, among them the oriental, the colored, and the working class. This extension has become the basis on which the two merge into each other （i.e. ecofeminism）, and foresees its depth and breadth of interpretation. The homoorganicity of the issues of ecology and femininity leads to the same direction of the two which, in this framework, overlap so much that ecofeminism is not part of either ecocriticism or feminism. Rather, it will take their place. The practice of eeofeminist critics endeavors to be inclusive so as to be most applicable and justifiable, with its reinscription of ＂androgyny＂ as a good example. Most important of all, with the internationally increasing acceptance of Taoist philosophy about nature, ＂Staying Female while Knowing Male＂ will become an ecofeminist keyword to construct a yin human society.
