《河岸》作为我国当代作家苏童的一部重要作品,它与巴西作家若昂·吉马朗埃斯·罗萨的小说《河的第三条岸》无论是在表层还是内质层面都存在着巨大的相同之处,从表层来说,它们都创造了一对经典的父子形象;从内质层面来说,它们都采用了象征的手法为我们呈现出了一个荒诞的主题.本文主要从“何谓”父亲、父子与河流和“河”与“岸”的象征意义等三方面对两篇小说在共性和异质上作出比较性的解读,同时对于作品中所凸显出的其它问题亦略作涉及.

River Bank, one of masterpieces by Su Tong,a modern Chinese writer,is greatly like the ThirdRiver Bank by Brazilian writer Jo.o Guimar.es Rosa in terms of surface and essential depth. At the surfacelevel,they both created a pair of classic father and son;at the essential level,they both used symbolism todisplay this absurd theme. From three aspects of fatherhood,father-son and river,and symbolic meaning ofriver and banks, this article offers a comparative interpretation about the similarities and differences of thesetwo novels,and also mentions other issues in these novels.
