本研究通过对美国国防科技情报中心数据库上世纪60年代以来收录的项目信息进行聚类分析，得到了美军语言研究的10个主要领域，分别是：语音识别、语言文化与区域知识、个体因素、机器翻译、形式语法、区域研究、信息提取、人机对话、认知语义和信息检索。在此基础上，文章从紧跟学术前沿、军民融合发展、语言与技术相结合三个方面总结了美军语言研究的主要特点，并对我军开展军事语言研究提供了建议。

A cluster analysis was conducted on the abstracts of language--related research projects collected by the Defense Technical Information Center of USA since the 1960s. Ten major research areas were identified, including speech recognition, language culture and regional expertise, individual factors, machine translation, formal grammar, area study, information extraction, man-- machine di- alogue, cognitive semantics and information retrieval. The analysis also shows that the US military forces take effective measures to keep pace with research frontiers, benefit from civil research re- sources, and integrate language research with computer technology. The paper finally provides some suggestions for conducting language--related research within the military field in China.
