贞懿皇后出家是金代佛教史上的一个重要事件。关于贞懿皇后出家的原因，绝大多数学者认为是受女真人接续婚的传统所迫。实际上，金代相关史料中关于接续婚的记载需加详细辨析方可使用，金代中期接续婚已失去了赖以存在的社会环境，而贞懿皇后本人也不大可能面临接续婚的窘境。贞懿皇后出家的真实原因应当是佛教信仰、社会现实、个人际遇等多种因素共同作用的结果。

Empress Zhenyi＇s becoming a Buddhist nun is an important event in the Buddhist history of Jin dynasty. As to the reason for it, most scholars believe it was related to the Jurchen people＇s continued marriage tradition that the heir should marry the wife of his late father as long as she was not his mother. In fact, historical materials concerned should be carefully examined. In the mid-Jin dynasty, that kind of marriage tradition lost its social environment, and Empress Zhenyi was unlikely to face such kind of marriage dilemma. The real reason for her becoming a nun should be her religious belief, social reality, her personal experiences, etc.
