Idioms are the products of our conceptual system, as well as the focus of linguistic research. Cognitive linguistics provides us a new perspective to explore idioms＇ meanings. This paper tries to explore the cognitive mechanism of idioms with the theories of conceptual metaphor and conceptual blending. The research suggests that conceptual metaphor and conceptual blending can help us comprehend the meanings of idioms.
