文章系统回顾了国内外旅游研究中关于企业社会责任的研究现状,发现相对于制造企业,旅游企业社会责任并没有得到学术界和实践界的重视,相关的学术研究和企业实践都较为匮乏。文章通过对比分析企业社会责任对于制造企业和旅游企业的作用和地位,指出无论是学术研究和管理实践,企业社会责任对于旅游企业来说更为重。在对已有研究述评的基础上,文章结合国内外旅游发展的趋势和现状,重点阐述了旅游学者应该努力的方向,期望能够起到抛砖引玉的作用,引起旅游学者和实践者对CSR的重视,推动CSR在旅游企业中的学术研究研究与实践发展。

In 2013, "PM2.5" and "fog and haze" were the most popular issues discussed both by the citizens and the media in China. Environmental pollution seems to be an inevitable result of China' s rapid economic development as the growth of many enterprises is based on resource consumption. However, this kind of growth has drawbacks that are detrimental to the balanced development of the society. Entrepreneurs must seriously consider the following issues: How can companies assume social responsibility as corporate citizenship? How can the relationship between corporate growth and social development be developed to achieve long-term business operations? The tourism industry is one of the most important sectors in terms of its contributions both to the economic growth and social development of the world. For a long time, the tourism industry has been treated as a "green" industry without pollution. However, with the extension of the tourism industry boundary, firms in the tourism industry have found considering their commitment to social responsibility to be necessary. Firms in the tourism industry should not only seek profit but also promote responsible corporate citizenship. Currently, more and more firms in the tourism industry are engaging in environment-friendly programs. In view of the significance of social responsibility to the tourism industry, this study aims to explore the similarities and differences between corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in the tourism industry and those in other industries. The paper systematically reviews CSR theory in tourism studies both at home and abroad. The literature review indicates that, unlike in the manufacturing industry, both academic research and industry practices pay less attention to the social responsibility of tourism firms. Moreover, the theoretical foundations of the current social responsibility research cannot simply be adapted to the research on CSR in the tourism industry. The reasons are as follows: (1) Stakeholder theory is the theoretical foundation widely applied in CSR in the manufacturing industry. Stakeholder relationships are more expanded in the tourism industry than in the manufacturing industry. The current stakeholder theory cannot fully explain the relationships between stakeholders in the tourism industry. (2) The development of firms in the tourism industry relies heavily on the natural and social environments, which are different from those of the manufacturing industry. The environmental CSR dimension should be fully considered by firms in the tourism industry. Tourism CSR researchers are required to develop theory foundations that are suitable to the characteristics of the tourism industry and conduct empirical research accordingly. This study contributes to the current literature in three ways. First, it shows the necessity of conducting CSR research in the tourism industry to deepen our understanding of how CSR contributes to the tourism industry. Second, this study presents the similarities and differences in conducting CSR research in the tourism industry and those in other industries, showing the connection and uniqueness of CSR research in the tourism industry to the current research. Third, this study discusses future directions of CSR research in the tourism industry.
