核心消费群体决定商品的文化属性。而早在初唐,隐士就已经成为饮茶生活的核心消费群体,因此赋予饮茶生活高蹈隐逸的文化特征,也就是说赋予农产品的茶叶以浓郁的文化色彩。唐代是中国茶文化的第一个发展高潮。陆羽通过撰写《茶经》缔造了传统茶学,为中国茶文化的繁荣奠定了理论基础。尽管陆羽也有盛唐文人普遍存在的隐逸与出仕矛盾的思想感情、隐士与侠少的浪漫主义精神,但是无论是他的友人,还是后世的史学家。都把隐士作为陆羽的本质身份特征。隐逸属性把茶与陆羽联系了起来,是陆羽关注茶的内在原因。而陆羽出色的总结与鼓吹进一步强化了饮茶生活的隐逸属性。

The core consumer group defines its cultural property of a particular commodity. Yet in the early age of Tang (618-712CE), hermits have become a core group of tea consumption, and it was them to attach the reclusive attribute on tea culture. That blended a rich culture into this agricultural product. The first upsurge of Chinese tea culture was happened in the Tang Dynasty (618-907CE). In that period, Lu Yu wrote his monograph The Classic of Tea, created the classic study of tea culture, which built a basic theory for its fu- ture prosperity. Lu Yu, like many other intellectuals in the golden age of Tang (712-762CE), has a contradiction between official career and reclusive life, with a romantic sense of being a hermit and a "musketeer". Nonetheless, both his fellows contemporary and historians afterwards, they all emphasized hermit as Lu Yu's cultural identity. That makes a connection between Lu Yu and tea, as well as the inner reason he focused on tea. His brilliant achievement and advocacy enhanced this reclusiveness identification for the life style of drink tea.
