美国图书馆协会战时服务是美国图书馆民众教育服务的延伸。一战时期，美国图书馆协会在国会图书馆成立“战时服务部”，发起“为军人捐书运动”，在海内外建立了数十座军营图书馆。二战时期，美国图书馆协会在全国范围发起“胜利图书运动”，为士兵征集逾千万册图书。美国图书馆协会战时服务是美国图书馆界积极的公关活动，提高了美国图书馆界在美国民众和政府心目中的地位和影响力，开创了美国甚至世界图书馆史上伟大的图书传播运动。

War services of American Library Association were the extension of American libraries for public services. During World War Ⅰ , American Library Association set up Wartime Service Department in Library of Congress, initiated the ＂Books for Sammies＂ and built dozens of camp libraries. While in World War Ⅱ , American Library Association launched ＂Victory Book Campaign＂ throughout the country and collected more than ten million books for soldiers. As active public relations activities of American librarian ship, the war services of American Library Association had promoted the association＇s role and influence in publics and government, and had created great books propagations in American and even the world history.
