练习频率对于语音习得是重要的,但并不是越多越好,要根据学生特点,找到频率与学生能动性发挥的最佳结合点。“熟能生巧”应是在正确输入的基础上加上适当的输出练习频率才能达到;输入和输出练习要和有意义的语境相结合,准备高质量的输入材料,设计形式多样的输出练习;对于某些语音现象,不能单纯靠大量的范例练习,显性的规则和技巧指导是必要的。

Based on Ellis' frequency effects on second language acquisition, suggestions on English pronunciation teaching and learning have been put forward. Frequency effects should be attached great importance to English pronunciation teaching and learning. Both input frequency and output frequency are necessary, but they should be moderate to fit the characteristics of exercises and students' level. "Practice makes perfect" does not always make sense in English pronunciation learning. Students should listen to standard English and ensure the proper input frequency before they can produce correct English themselves. Different forms of meaningful exercises and resources are encouraged to stimulate students' potential and interests. To some exercises, intensive input and output frequency does not work well. It is suggested that explicit instruction be given to the students in order to raise their awareness and to help them realize the rules and patterns of English.
