现代意义的中国古代文论学科,其在建立之初,就是中西方学术融合的产物。20世纪比较诗学的发展,推动学者在比较视域下重建中国古代文论的体系。蔡宗齐《比较诗学结构》将中西方诗学的宏观结构加以整体的比较,并由此建构出一个与西方文论相对的中国古代文论体系,表现出极为宏大和开阔的学术气象;具体的个案研究又以鞭辟入里、曲折切当而见长,为理论建构提供了坚实的支撑;并且在比较视野下,从和谐过程的角度重新审视中国古代文论,由此对传统文论的发展作出了新的富于活力的阐释。它是作者多年来对中西方文论研精覃思的成果,也代表了近期比较诗学研究和中国古代文论研究的新进展。

Chinese ancient literary criticism in the modern sense has been the product of the convergence of Chinese and Western academics since it was initiated. The development of comparative poetics in the 20th century enabled the concerned scholars to reconstruct the system of Chinese ancient literary criticism. Three Perspectives on Western and Chinese Literary Criticism (《比较诗学结构》)by Zong-qi Cai (蔡宗齐) presents the author's intensive study on Chinese and Western literary criticism, and also represents the new development of the comparative study of poetics and the study of Chinese ancient literary criticism in the 20th century. In this book, Cai makes an integral comparison of the macro-structure of Chinese and Western poetics and constructs a system of Chinese ancient literary criticism relevant to its Western counterpart, displaying a magnificent academic scene. He also offers several detailed and specific case studies to support his theoretical framework, which is penetrating, comprehensive and appropriate. As for the trans-cultural comparative study, Cai points out that traditional Chinese critics described literature as a harmonizing progress, which enlightened a new and vital illumination on the development of traditional Chinese literary criticism. This book shows the recent achievements in the field of Chinese and Western comparative poetics and Chinese ancient literary criticism.
