个人史就是个人的成长历史，是独立的个人历史建构方式。相对传统的由上而下的政府观察视野，个人史书写凸显了公众由下而上的观察视野。个人史书写有几个特征：一是主体性写作，二是独特的人性体验，三是由微而宏看历史，四是发现身边的历史，五是动态化的写作。个人史在形式上是私人史，但在本质上是公共史。公众史学视野下的个人史书写意义多端，如认识自我的有效途径，历史记录对象的多元化，让普通人垂名于世，记录下层人民的感受，藉普通人窥探世界的秘密。个人史书写的提出，给人留下了无限的想像空间，有可能建构起真正的总体史，有可能写出内涵更丰富的大国家史，从而实现真正的史界革命。

Individual history is a history of individual＇ s growth and a way of constructing the independent historyof individuals. Different from the traditional government＇ s way to observe history from above, the writing of individualhistory tends to reveal the public＇s observation of history from the bottom up. Individual history writing has some of itsown features. First, it is a kind of subjective writing; second, it is full of distinctive human experience; third, it observeshistory from the micro to the macro; fourth, it is a discovery of the history around the author; fifth, it is a kind of dynam-ic writing. Individual history is personal history in its form but public history in its essence. From the perspective of pub-lie history studies, the writing of individual history is of great significance. It can be an effective way for self-recognitionand it may increase the multiplicity of the objects of historical records. It can help ordinary people to be remembered byhistory. It can help record the feeling of lower class people, and explore the secrets of the world from the perspectives ofordinary people. The concept of individual history writing gives people limitless room of imagination. It may help to con-struct a real general history and compile a grand national history with enriched contents, and, in this way, it may bringabout a real revolution in the realm of historical studies.
