什么因素影响着公众对政府支出、以至国家权力边界的态度与选择？文章认为，公众对腐败程度的认知是影响他们对国家权力态度的关键因素。使用2006年亚洲晴雨表的调查数据，文章分析了中国公众的腐败认知如何影响他们对政府经济型支出与再分配型支出的态度与偏好，进而探求腐败与国家权力边界的关系。文章发现，公众对腐败程度的认知，显著降低了他们对腐败空间相对较大的经济型支出的支持与偏好，但对受腐败影响较低的再分配型支出领域则没有显著影响。

What affects public attitude towards government expenditure and the boundary of state power.9 Thispaper argues that an individual＇s perception on corruption is a key factor of their attitudes towards various typesof public expenditure. Employing 2006 Asia barometer survey data, we analyze Chinese citizens＇ perception oncorruption and how this impact on their preferences for fiscal spending on economic development and redistribu-tion, thus exploring the relationship between corruption and the boundary of state power. We find that publicsupport for economic spending is significantly reduced if it is perceived to be more likely to be subject to corruptpractices. But, perception on corruption has no significant effect on redistributive expenditures seen as lessprone to corruption. These findings suggest that governments should take account of the corruption risk causedby expenditure distortion to avoid the erosion of its legitimacy. Chinese governments should also spend more onsocial protection to respond to increasing public demands.
