伊藤仁斋与荻生徂徕是日本德川时期古学派的两位代表人物。他们在思想上既有相似性,更有差异性。他们在复古对象的选择上存在着重大区别:仁斋推崇孔子和孟子,认为《论语》和《孟子》是一切学问的根基;徂徕则贬斥孔孟,将古代七位圣王(尧、舜、禹、汤、文、武、周)推向至高无上的“圣人”地位,同时认为记录“圣王之道,,的六经高于《论语》和《孟子》。导致这种差别的诸多因素中,既有两位学者对中国古代圣贤、儒家经典的不同理解与诠释,也有他们对德川时期社会现实的不同体会,以及各自建立新学派的需要。

There are a number of similarities and differences in the Confucian ideas between Ito Jinsai and Ogyu Sorai, both of who were the distinguishing Confucian scholars of Ancient-learning school in Tokugawa Japan. The restoration of Confucianism was acted in two different ways..Jinsai respects Confucius and Mencius, thinking highly of Analects and Meneius as the foundation of all the scholarship, while Sorai regarded the seven ancient kings as the sages, insisting that Six Classics which recorded the real society in ancient kings' time are superior to Analects and Mencius. The discrepancy between Jinsai and Sorai' s selections were due to their different understanding of the Confucian classics, figures, social realities and the needs to build up new Confucian schools.
