As the foreruuner devoted to the education for Chinese overseas students in Ja pan, Jigoro Kano greatly influenced the education history of both China and japan. Jigoro Kano＇s motivations to participate in China＇s educational reforms were to help China to be powerful to safeguard the world peace. Studies of his motivations, activities and thoughts will he helpful not only to discover the real intention of Japan＇s involvement in China＇s educational reforms, but also to analyze the practical value and profound significance of the educational exchange between China and Japan during the late Qing Dynasty.
