传道、授业、解惑,为师者之天职,其功效则仰赖于为人师者之品格与学识。身正学高,以身载道,为人师者方能据以传道,此亦为"为师之道"。以师者角色而论,师者当为"四者"之集合,即士者之情怀、仁者之爱心、智者之智慧和学者之涵养。至于师者之养成,则不仅要坐而论道,而且应起而行道;从游于名师,先问道于师,再依道而行,认同之,践行之,固守之,内化之,弘扬之,最后方可致"本立道生"之境界。道有所成,则自成气象,终成名师,教人成才。

전도、수업、해혹,위사자지천직,기공효칙앙뢰우위인사자지품격여학식。신정학고,이신재도,위인사자방능거이전도,차역위"위사지도"。이사자각색이론,사자당위"사자"지집합,즉사자지정부、인자지애심、지자지지혜화학자지함양。지우사자지양성,칙불부요좌이론도,이차응기이행도;종유우명사,선문도우사,재의도이행,인동지,천행지,고수지,내화지,홍양지,최후방가치"본립도생"지경계。도유소성,칙자성기상,종성명사,교인성재。
Propagating Dao, imparting knowledge and answering doubts are teachers' duty. The performance of teachers' duties depends on teacher' s qualities and knowledge. Only those teachers who have top-ranking qualities and knowledge could propagate Dao, which is the most fundamental criterion of teachers. As far as teacher' s role is concerned, teachers should be the collection of four kinds of man, and should have feelings of Shi group, love of kind-hearted man, wisdom of wise man and virtue of scholars. As for the development of teachers, those who will choose to be teachers should not only talk about Dao but also practice it. They should learn from famous tutors, practicing according to Dao, insisting on Dao and internalizing Dao. At last, they should reach the state of setting up the foundation and generating Dao. In this way, they could develop to famous teachers and educate students into talents.
