择偶是人类重要的心理、社会及文化现象，择偶的标准是不同时代人们价值取向的反映。作为12世纪末13世纪初崛起漠北的游牧民族---蒙古族，凭借武力建立起驰骋世界的大元帝国，在其经济和政治以及社会习俗等因素的驱动下，元代蒙古族的择偶标准以最初的男看家道，女重颜色的择偶观，逐渐发展为政治属性渐趋强化以及门第观念较强的择偶观，同时在收继婚俗的影响下，其择偶观又转变为以经济利益为主。
