纵观中国乡村教育的发展历程，乡村学校除了承担输送人才的政治功能和增加人力资本的经济功能，还一直承担着使社会得以维系的、不可或缺的社会文化功能。一方面，乡村学校是连接大传统与小传统的重要中介；另一方面，乡村学校是乡村社会整合的重要组织。随着撤点并校的进程，那些曾由乡村学校承担的社会文化功能，将由什么组织来替代将是一个特别值得关注的议题。

With the withdrawal and merger of rural schools, it will be a cause for special concern that what organization will replace rural schools to undertake their social and cultural value.
