人文社会科学和自然科学构成了学者们开展学术活动的两大领域，学者们通过学术语篇相互交流、分享学术研究成果。本文以两大学科下的英语学术语篇为语料。以KenHyland的元话语人际模式为依据，结合哈贝马斯（Jtirgen Habermas）提出的交往行为理论，从语言哲学的角度重新审视了元话语标记语。研究发现元话语标记语是实现交往行为意义的语言表征资源，满足有效交往所需的四种普遍有效性要求，可实现以“理解”为目的的交往行为。作者在学术语篇中普遍使用元话语旨在与受众实现互动交往，使其能更好地理解语篇所表达的观点及命题内容。

The academic activity occurs in the fields of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The aca- demic discourses constitute a platform where scholars are able to share research results. Based on the Interpersonal Model of Metadiscourse proposed by Ken Hyland, this paper intends to analyze the meanings of metadiscourse markers from the perspective of communicative action theory. The results show that metadiscourse nmrkers are lin- guistic resources to represent the communicative action meaning, and can fulfill the four universal validity claims required by communicative action to facilitate our understanding of the discourse. The authors of academic discourse universally use metadiscourse markers to interact with discourse readers and make their views and propositions bet- ter understood by the readers in an academic discourse community.
