Basing his research on historical documents provided by the TransAtlantic Slave Trade Database, American Census, and DNA analyses, Henry Louis Gates, Jr, has published a bulk of essays and books focusing on racial, historical, and cultural issues, and has produced documentaries concerning African American individuals, their families and histories. His works consider questions suchas where we are, how we got here and where we are going.
