Bai Xianyong is the most famous writer in Taiwan and his novel The Peony Pavilion is his masterpiece. While ＂The Inlaid Harp ＂ written by Li Shangyin,a poet in the Tang Dynasty,is also a masterpiece and the most controversial poem in the history of Chinese literature. The Peony Pavilion and ＂The Inlaid Harp ＂ are different in style, but both of them show distinct intertextuality. They expound the vicissitudes of life and embody the mental predicament of the authors and their thinking about the world.
