在周代宗法制社会里,婚恋行为虽被主流社会以婚礼的形式加以规范,但这并不意味着各种原始婚恋习俗的彻底灭绝,相反,它们仍存在于周代社会。春秋时期,随着理性精神的觉醒,这些风俗对上层的礼产生强大的反作用。由蒙昧时代的原始婚俗发展到文明社会的婚礼,标志着社会理性对人类原欲的约束,而春秋时代原始婚俗对礼的反作用,则意味着被礼压抑的人性本然状态及原欲的适当表露和渲泻。从人类社会进化的角度观察,二者同样具有合理性。后者带有浓重的颠覆性、全民性、狂欢化特征,是春秋节日歌会和歌俗的基础,而节日歌会、歌俗又是催生《诗经》恋歌的温床。

In the Zhou patriarchal society, although love and marriage behavior had been normalized by main current in the way of marriage ceremony, all kinds of primitive marriage customs did not vanish completely. When it comes to the spring and autumn period, aristocratic marriage rite was damaged by primitive customs, which showed the vent and expression of humanity that had been suppressed by propriety. At the same time, having the characteristics of being subversive, population-based and carnival, primitive marriage customs laid the foundation for festival concert and folklore, which in turn become the hotbed of love songs in the Book of songs.
