2012年莫言获得诺贝尔文学奖以来，媒体、学界和翻译界围绕翻译的重要性与翻译对中国文学“走出去”的作用、影响等问题展开了广泛的讨论，同时也针对翻译策略与方法、译者的责任以及翻译观念等方面提出了质疑，进而对中国文学如何能更好地“走出去”表示出某种程度的怀疑与担忧。在中国文学对外译介的时代背景下，翻译无疑正面临着新的挑战。对此，翻译批评不应处于缺席和失语的状态，翻译活动所面对的质疑与挑战迫切需要翻译批评对诸如翻译方法、翻译标准、翻译观念和翻译价值等涉及翻译的根本性问题进行重新审视。基于这样的认识，本文从对翻译现实的关注、对翻译根本问题的再审视以及对翻译理论的建构等方面探讨翻译批评在新的历史语境下所肩负的责任，力求促进翻译批评在实践与理论两方面展现其应有价值。

Mo Yan＇s winning of Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012 has given rise to an extensive discussion among the media, academia and the translation world on topics like the importance of translation, effect and influence of translation towards the ＂Go Out Policy＂ of Chinese literature, etc. Skepticisms to translation strategies and methods, responsibility of translators, as well as translation mentality, were also raised, bringing, to some extent, doubts and worries about how the ＂Go Out Policy＂ of Chinese literature would be better implemented. In a time when Chinese literature is translated and introduced on a world- wide stage, translation is apparently facing new challenges. Translation criticism will not remain absent and silent in this time of challenge. Contrarily, it is expected to give new perspectives on such translation-concerned fundamental issues as translation method, translation staudard, translation mentality and translation value, etc. to confront headlong all the doubts and challenges that have been laid upon translation activities. Guided by this attitude, this paper aims to explore the responsibility translation is to assume in a new historical context from such aspects as survey of the current translation reality, re-evaluation of fimdamental issues in translation, and construction of translation theories, in an effort to present the value translation criticism is supposed to bring about both in practice and theory.
