我国外语教育在新中国成立后和改革开放后的不同时期取得巨大进展,为国家培养了大批优秀外语干部和学者,同时也出现一些问题和不同意见,大致可归纳成以下几个方面:如何评价新中国成立后和改革开放后的外语教育?如何认识最近几年外语教育中出现的一系列争论?在中国崛起的国际化背景下,该如何做外语教育的战略考虑?为了更好地开展对我国外语教育改革的讨论,我认为应从跨学科和超学科的观点,扩大视野:以国家语言政策为基准,引导讨论;坚持辩证分析方法,求同存异;讲究实事求是,避免概念模糊;注重实践,深入调查,及时总结经验。

Tremendous developments have been achieved in distinctive periods after the foundation of People' s Republic of China and Reform and Opening, fostering large numbers of outstanding cadres and scholars of foreign languages, while simul- taneously arousing some problems and diverging opinions which can be summaries as follows: How to evaluate the foreign lan- guage education after the foundation of New China and Reform and Opening? How to comprehend the series of arguments oc- curring around foreign language education in recent years? Under the internationalization background of China' s upgrowth, how to reconsider strategically the foreign language education.9 In an attempt to launch the discussion of foreign language educa- tion reform in China, it is postulated that we should adopt a cross-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary standpoint; guide the discussion based upon national language policies; persist in the dialectical analysis method, seeking common ground while reserving differences ; pay attention to pursuing the truth from facts, avoiding vague concepts; lay stress on practice, search deep enquiries and sum up experience and lessons timely.
