The gradually, with the state that college English occupies 10 percent of the total course credits has been changed significance of college English curriculum being questioned by university teaching administrators. There are two voices on the credits reduction of college English: positive and negative. And the dispute reflects several questions, such as the teaching quality of college English, classified teaching, and the definition of curriculum contents. The credits of college English as an EGP course should be reduced according to different circumstances. A reformation should be carried out in the aspects of teaching objectives, curriculum, teaching methods and quality evaluation, while we take into consideration the training of professional talents and students ' personality development.
