SMALLab是美国政府与国家科学基金会、麦克阿瑟基金会等机构资助下于实体教室中研发的一个混合现实环境。其研发的团队涉及教育学、心理学、互动媒体、计算机科学和艺术等众多学科领域,他们认为人的身体并非只是承载行为的工具,而是能够参与实践活动,通过肢体动作与环境交互实现认知的活动主体。SMALLab具身环境对我国的未来课堂设计与开发具有重要的参考价值,具体表现在:未来课堂应具备多感官传感与反馈技术、应提供互动空间、应能与现有教学方法和课程内容有机融合、应加强以学习者为中心的设计以及保障经费投入、组建跨学科领域的研发团队等。

SMALLab is a mixed reality environment in the research and development of the physical classroom that funded by the U.S. government and the National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation and other agencies. Its research team involves in education, psychology, interactive media, computer science and the arts, and many other disciplines.They think that the human body is not just a tool carrying behavior, but a cognitive subject which can participate in practical activities and interact with the environment through physical movements. SMALLab embodied environment has an important reference value to our classroom's design and development in the future. The concrete manifestation is: the future classroom should have a multi-sensory sensing and feedback technology and provide interactive space, should be able to integrate organically with the existing teaching methods and curriculum content, should be strengthened in the terms of learner-centered design, the protection of funding, and the establishemnt of interdisciplinary research and development teams
