The automobile industry has become a dominated pillar industry of our national economy, but the challenge will be very great. This paper discusses the current situation of the automobile industry, analyzes the future challenges and opportunities the automobile industry faces, including the pressures from fabrication complexity and cost, informatization needs, market segmentation, coordination between supply chain and retail sectors, and at the same time, proposes that OEMs should adopt more technology platforms and modular production, develop the technology of information and intelligence, and strengthen- ing the cooperation with other OEMs, suppliers and retailers.
