渤海国时期在珲春地区建立东京龙原府,主要目的是大力开发以图们江出海口为中心的环日本海地区,进而促进与日本的密切往来。以东京龙原府为基地,渤海国各族群共同对整个图们江区域及现俄罗斯远东地区进行了前所未有的开拓,不但极大地拓宽了其疆域,而且对7-10世纪初东北亚区域经济文化的发展发挥了突出作用。

Longyuan Prefecture of Dongjing was established in Hunchun during the Bohai Kingdom with the aim of developing Northeast Asia region centred on the exit of Tumen River and forwarding the relations with Japan. Thus all the nations in Bohai Kingdom began their unprecedented exploitation of Tureen River region and the Far East area as well. All this not only made their territory expanded, but also played an outstanding role in the economic and cultural development in Northeast Asia during the period from 7th century to the early 10th century.
