杜仁杰是中国古代散曲史上首开风气的人物,他的散曲实现了由词到曲、由曲到套数的转变,首开由雅到俗的新风,明显体现了元初散曲向中期过渡的轨迹。在整个中国古代文学由中古到近古的变化中,其贡献是巨大的。

Du Renjie is the one who first brings new life to Chinese Sanqu Poetry. His Sanqu makes the change from Ci to Qu, and from Qu to series of Qu, which clearly shows the growth of Sanqu from the beginning of Yuan Dynasty to the middle of the dynasty. Therefore, Du Renjie becomes the first person who leads Sanqu from refinement to popularity, and thus he has given great contribution to the development of Chinese literature from mid-ancient to late-ancient time.
