古希腊的城邦公共精神向马克思说明了人参与公共生活的必要性、可能性及方法；空想社会主义强调人与人之间的有机联系，其关于未来社会经济和政治制度的公共性管理图示给予马克思以直接的思想启迪；德国古典哲学关于市民社会与国家关系的公共性反思引起了马克思研究的重大转向；自由主义高度重视个人自由实现的公共性理念启示马克思公共性是自由意志的理性结合。这四者共同构成了马克思公共性思想的基本理论来源。马克思公共性思想的逻辑演进是与他的唯物史观的形成过程相统一的。

The public spirit of the ancient Greek city-states is the source of Marx＇s idea that the necessity, possibility and methods of people＇s participation in public life. The Utopian socialism emphasizes the organic links between people, which the illustration of public management regarding future socio- economic and political system gives Marx direct ideological inspiration. The reflection of German classical philosophy on the publicity of the relationship between civil society and state causes a major turn point of Marx＇s study. Liberalism＇s highly attention to the public idea of individual freedom＇s realization inspires Marx that the publicity is the rational combination of the free wills. All of the four kinds of thoughts mentioned above constitute the sources of Marx＇s publicity theory. The logical evolution of Marx＇s publicity thought is unified with the forming process of his historical materialism.
