20世纪初叶到四十年代，甘肃的传统手工业保持了继续发展的状态，尤其是本省原料比较充足的毛纺织业、土布、造纸、皮革等行业显示出了较好的发展势头，有些从原来的副业发展为主业。特别是抗战时期，由于政府提倡和民众生活需要，不仅旧有的手工业发展很快，还出现了一些新兴手工业，使近代甘肃手工业出现了短暂的“黄金时期”。在各种经营方式中，家庭和挑贩经营依然是农村手工业经营的主要方式，市镇作坊、官营和合作社逐渐成为抗战时期手工业经营的主流方式，而且在社会经济和农家生活中占有重要的地位。近代甘肃手工业延续与革新的主要因素是手工业在农家经济生活中仍然占有重要的地位，既可解决农家生活的需求，使手工业产品有广阔的市场空间，又可消化一部分农业生产中剩余的劳动力；国民政府在抗战时期金融政策也是手工业发展不可或缺的因素，银行资本在一定程度上帮助手工业解决了资金困难，给外来难民提供了技术支撑．这些都成为手工业延续与发展的原动力。
20세기초협도사십년대，감숙적전통수공업보지료계속발전적상태，우기시본성원료비교충족적모방직업、토포、조지、피혁등행업현시출료교호적발전세두，유사종원래적부업발전위주업。특별시항전시기，유우정부제창화민음생활수요，불부구유적수공업발전흔쾌，환출현료일사신흥수공업，사근대감숙수공업출현료단잠적“황금시기”。재각충경영방식중，가정화도판경영의연시농촌수공업경영적주요방식，시진작방、관영화합작사축점성위항전시기수공업경영적주류방식，이차재사회경제화농가생활중점유중요적지위。근대감숙수공업연속여혁신적주요인소시수공업재농가경제생활중잉연점유중요적지위，기가해결농가생활적수구，사수공업산품유엄활적시장공간，우가소화일부분농업생산중잉여적노동력；국민정부재항전시기금융정책야시수공업발전불가혹결적인소，은행자본재일정정도상방조수공업해결료자금곤난，급외래난민제공료기술지탱．저사도성위수공업연속여발전적원동력。
In the forties of 20th century, the handicraft industry of Gansu was in well development, especially in the field of the wool textile industry, native cloth, papermaking and leather making and so on in which the local place had adequate raw materials, in some places such industries had developed from subsidiary business to main business. Especially during Anti-Japanese war time,for the advocating of the government and demarMs of the people, some existing handicraft developed rapidly, some new handicrafts appeared that formed the short golden time of Gansu＇s handicraft industry. Among various modes of business, family and shoulder pole business were still the main form in country, city workshops ,state running and cooperation gradually became the main stream business forms of the war time that took important place in social economy and peasant economy life, and that was the main reason of lasting and reforming of Gansu＇s handicraft industry in modern time. It could meet the need of country life, and also could solve the problem of surplus workforce. The financial policy of national government of the time was t~e indispensible reason for the development of it ,bank capital solved the financial difficulty, immigram refugees provided skills , all these were the motive power of the lasting and developing and handicraft industry.
