大量数据和事实证明，改革开放以来，尤其新世纪以来裕固族聚居区经济社会发展和人民生活发生了翻天覆地的变化。这种变化的主要原因在于改革开放的大背景、当地因地制宜符合实际的发展战略以及国家民族政策的支持。裕固族地区当前发展面临的最大问题是既有经济结构的不合理，难以实现可持续发展，如何能够找到一条将生态保护和经济增长结合起来的绿色发展之路成为关键。国家主体功能区制度的建立及相关政策，既为裕固族地区的进一步发展规定了方向。也为当地因执行国家战略而遭受损失的弥补带来了希望。当然，更多的希望还在于裕固族地区人民不断探索、不断创新的科学发展设想和实践。

Proven by numerous statistical figures and facts, the Yugu area has witnessed a tremendous change in terms of economy and social development as well as the livelihood of people since reform and o- pening up, especially the new century. The main reason of these changes rest with the grand background of reform and opening up, the developmental strategies that suiting local conditions and the support of national policies. The major problem that the Yugu area is facing is the irrationality of economic structure that makes it hard to realize a sustainable development. The key is to find out a way of green development which syn- thesizes the ecological protection and economic growth. The establishment of the national subjective func- tional district and the corresponding policies not only prescribe the direction for further development of the Yugu area, but it also bring hope to the recuperation for the loss the local area suffered in the course of im- plementing national strategies, of course, more hopes lie with the continuous approaching and innovative i- magination and practice for scientific development of the people in the Yugu area.
