In their strategic thrust into the Dabie Mountains,the PLA troops under the command of Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping fought the Battle of Ruhe. The 16 th Brigade of the 6 th Column led by General You Taizhong brought up the rear. In the intense fighting that lasted for one day and one night,they beat off many enemy attacks and guaranteed the safe river crossing of the Central Plains Field Army Headquarters and the Central Plains Bureau leading body.
