分类意味着依据特定的关系对某一类别加以安排,其目标在于促进理解,并使事物之间的关系简单易晓。人类组成社会需要秩序,分类为秩序提供了标记和保护,表达了它们建构于其中的那个社会。族群作为一种社会组织形式,归属是其关键特征,其要素是自我归属和分类。按照这样的认知原则,北罗德西亚Copperbelt和贵阳市的＂背篼＂都属于一个特殊的群体,它们在心理和认知上的自我归属体现了一种分类思想和原则。

Classification means arranging a certain category according to some special relationships with the purpose of improving comprehension and making the relationship between things easier and clearer. Systems are needed to make up human society, and classification provides marks and protection for the systems to demonstrate the society that they belong to. As a type of organization, ethnic groups＇ key feature is ascription, which includes self-ascription and classification. According to this cognitive principle, Copperbeh in Northern Rhodesian and Basket Carriers of Guiyang both belong to a special group and their psychological and cognitive self-ascription reflects the concept and principle of classification.
