The national curriculum in England （mathematics） was released in July 2014 by British Department for Education. It is a programmatic document of the mathematics curriculum reform in the United Kingdom in the 21^st century. It interprets the mathematical content that the students at key stage 1 to key stage 4 should master. It aims to provide a world-class mathematics education for all young people in England. Its main features are as follows： key stage 2 is split into two parts （upper and lower）, curriculum content were to be specified on a year-by-year basis for key stages 1--2, and on key stage structure for key stage 3; level description of attainment targets should be removed to optimize the programme of study; using ICT appropriately, calculator should be introduced strictly; developing students＇ mathematics literacv across the national curriculum, highlighting the core role of mathematics.
