His theory contains quadruple grounds, namely the guidance of the basic principle of Marxism, the influence of traditional Chinese culture, the requirement of the Chinese Communists＇ fundamental purpose, and the needs to overcome the bad thoughts and work style caused by the uneven distribution of benefits within the Party. This theory has displayed its dual functions, not only breeding the Party＇s style of criticism and self-criticism, but also promoting the formation of the Party＇ s style of close ties with the masses. Furthermore, this theory has its great realistic value, with criticism and self-criticism as an important means to solve the ideological struggle within the Party, and as the key to launch the educational activities of the practice of the mass line. Both criticism and self- criticism serve as an important guarantee for the Party to uphold the truth, amend the mistakes, and lead the people forward in the right direction.
