元杂剧《桃花女》现存有两个完整本子,脉望馆本和《元曲选》本,这两个版本从题目正名、曲词宾白到情节结构和人物设置都存在一定差异。《元曲选》本比脉望馆本多出八支曲子,宾白更为整饰。脉望馆本语言更为舞台化,《元曲选》本则更为案头化。情节设置上两个版本也有少量不同之处,《元曲选》本还增设了丑角和搽旦。脉望馆本应当比《元曲选》本更接近元刊本。
