Doubt： A Parable, by American playwright John Patrick Shanley, won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize（Drama）. Set against the backdrop of a Catholic school during an explosive time in American history, the play focuses on the gripping conflict between the strict principal Sister Aloysius and the popular parish priest Father Flynn, for Aloysius suspects Flynn of molesting the school＇s only African-American student. As Shanley subtitles his play ＂a parable＂, he seems to suggest that the commencement of religious change is the moment of doubt, and that every social being has to confront ethical choices. The fragmented ending indicates the complexity and tragedy of modern people＇s ethnical dilemma.
